The “martaki” bracelet is derived from the Greek word for the month of March, “Martios”. This custom date back to ancient Greece and the famous Eleusinian Mysteries. People who participated, used to wear a thread named “Kroki” around their right hand and left foot.

Nowadays, the custom is still carried on with the white (purity) and red (passion) thread that is worn as a bracelet throughout the whole month of March. At the end of the month the bracelet should be placed on rose bushes, after you see the first swallow, so it can pick it up and build its nest.
